What’s The Heat Output Of Cast Iron Column Radiators?

The multiple columns increase the surface area, which increases their BTU compared to flat panel radiators of a similar size. Cast iron column radiators emit heat through a combination of radiation and convection. The radiator’s large surface area absorbs heat from hot water or steam inside its columns, which is then radiated out into the room, warming nearby objects and people directly. At the same time, cooler air from the room passes between the columns, heats up and rises, creating a convection current that circulates warm air throughout the space. The open space between the columns allows for improved airflow, which helps to distribute heat evenly.
